Liverpool will look to recover from two costly defeats against the side with the poorest form in the league
With morale low in the Newcastle camp after a cruel defeat to arch-rivals Sunderland, Rodgers’ men will expect an easy three points at Anfield on Saturday
1) The Magpies have lost five of their last six games, conceding 12 goals and scoring just twice.
2) However, their opponents have also struggled recently – the Reds have shipped six goals in their last two games, which were costly defeats to Arsenal and Man Utd. They now lie seven points off fourth place.
3) Newcastle have conceded 1.81 goals per game on the road this season, whilst their opponents are the sixth highest scorers in the League. This game to have Over 2.5 goals is priced at 13/20.
4) 62% of Liverpool’s goals this season have come in the last 45 minutes, whilst the Magpies have scored an even higher proportion after halftime – 70%. It is 21/20 that the second half will have the most goals.
5) Jordan Henderson has scored four in his last five, over half of his sides’ goals in that period. The midfielder is 3/1 to score at anytime on Saturday.
6) John Carver’s men have failed to score on 11 occasions this season, meaning no goals in over a third of their games. It is 21/20 that they will repeat that feat and Liverpool to keep a clean sheet.
7) Over 50% of Liverpool’s games have been level at halftime – and it is 6/4 that things will be level after 45 minutes on Saturday.
8) With top scorer Papiss Cisse still serving a seven match ban for spitting, Newcastle’s next highest scorer is Ayoze Perez with five goals – but the Argentine has not scored in the league since the end of December.
