The Dallas Mavericks have gone all-in on the NBA Championship by trading for Rajon Rondo, and he’ll be the catalyst for big win over the Phoenix Suns
When you’ve gone all-in on a season, you have to prove that it was worth the risk. You could lose in the long-term, especially if it doesn’t come off, but the quest for one more day in the sun is difficult to resist and the Dallas Mavericks want another taste sooner rather than later.
The Mavs traded some depth for the Boston Celtics’ former All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo, an assist machine that could be the perfect piece for the best offensive team in the NBA. He’s a great defender too and as the team hope to win one more time before future Hall-of-Famer Dirk Novitski retires.
In their way on Tuesday night stand the Phoenix Suns, who haven’t quite hit the heights of last season. They are a decent outfit but their performances have dropped and those that stood up last year have sat back down. Go for Dallas to win at Evens, they score at will and that’ll only improve with Rondo.
Earlier in the evening sees the West’s rock-bottom team in the Minnesota Timberwolves head to Cleveland to do battle with the Cavaliers. The Cavs are yet to really click like many expected but LeBron James has got back to his regular level, which is a real positive as they are still in a good position in the weak Eastern Conference.
The Wolves are a bad team that have some hope for the future but even at this early stage, it’s a lost season. Look for the former Minnesota player Kevin Love to heap more misery on his old team-mates, look at Cleveland to win both halves at 9/50.
Finally, the Los Angeles Clippers head to Georgia to face the surging Atlanta Hawks. The Clippers were excellent in their last away trip, going 7-1 but the Hawks have been really impressive, winning nine of their last ten. Go for them to win at 4/5 but the Clippers will get their points and with them to score over 103 points at 83/100, they should both happen in a close high-scoring affair.
