Woodley: veteran MMA fighter
Woodley, nicknamed “The Chosen One”, started professionally in mixed martial arts in 2009, and had his UFC debut in 2013. He had an undefeated run from 2014 to 2018, during which he became a UFC welterweight champion after beating Robbie Lawler in 2016 in an impressive first-round knockout.
The MMA fighter successfully defended his title four times, but eventually lost it in 2019.
He holds an impressive 19-7-1 professional MMA record, seven of the wins coming by way of knockout and five by submission. His UFC numbers stand at 9-7-1.
Woodley will be fighting in a different weight class from his mixed martial arts days. Cruiserweight fighters will weigh in at 190 pounds, while he competed at the UFC at 170 pounds.
